Hi everyone,
Today’s poem was inspired by a conversation with a close friend about generative AI and its negative environmental impact due to the intense processing power it requires. In all the AI hype the last several months, that aspect of it feels invisible.
The discussion was made more powerful because it was against the backdrop of an excessive heat wave.
Technological advancement is important. So is preserving our precious earth. I don’t know what the right balance is, but what we have right now is not it.

Great poem, Rachel. I think it's awesome when poets use their skills to ask the right questions. I really enjoy playing with generative AI, and I've seen so many unfounded opinions being formed against it, based on misunderstandings and half-truths. This question, however, is precisely the one we actually should talk about, but don't. Bravo.
