such pleasing symmetry / from side to side

Hi everyone,

Today’s poem came to be in response to the prompt, “write about a shape.” My family asked me to use a parallelogram and I happily took up the challenge.

parallelogram

such pleasing symmetry
from side to side
and angle to angle,
a clear path
for the lazy wanderer
but no door
for the one
who likes to walk
in crooked lines,
forever relegated
to sketching abstract
footprints
from the outside.
